Objectives/Students will be able to:

1. Exercise good judgment and make safe choices online.  Avoid giving out personal information.  2. Access and select appropriate information.  3. Understand intellectual property.  Use citation and ethics. 4. Make personal and social choices more objectively.      6. Use published articles retrieved online for effective research.  7. Send articles/files home via email.  8. Read books of their own choice, understanding the level and type of factual information in nonfiction, historical fiction, and fiction.

Student Activities/ Instructional Strategies:

Day 1-Officer Bassett/Library Media collaboration sharing articles from local newspaper archives.

Day 2-Mirror Image software

Day 3- Search Facts on File for published articles.  Cite sources using online writing lab guides.

Day 4- Search InfoTRAC for published articles.  Use MLA citation.

10/27  Teen Read 8 Get Real!  Nonfiction, historical fiction or the truth in a book of fiction.

 

Information Skills:

1. Access published articles with online databases.  2. Use information in an ethical way.     3. Understand and use MLA citation.  4. Know that people one meets on the Internet may not be who they say they are.  5. Keep personal information private.

 

Technology Skills:

1. Organize and manage network files. 2. Send school information/files via email from school to home and back.
